Mr James Abiam Isabirye Mugoya, the billionaire contractor who was arrested on Wednesday evening in Nairobi is set to appear in court today.

Until the arrest at an apartment on State House Road, police had been looking for him since early in the year, after a court issued a warrant.

He is being held by CID officers at the Kileleshwa Police Station.

Police had posted advertisements in local newspapers seeking help from the public.

The arrest warrant had been issued over charges pending in court pitting him against new managers of Mugoya Construction and Engineering Company. The firm is currently in receivership over Sh3 billion unpaid debts.

The matter is being handled by detectives attached to the Economic Crimes Unit based at the CID headquarters.
