Appeal to Kenyan MPs on the Biosafety Bill

Please do all you can and Stop Passing of the Biosafety (GMO/LMO) Bill 2008

REASONS? ANYONE telling you that the bill is about increasing food in Kenya is NOT TELLING THE TRUTH.

Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) means Living Modified Organisms (LMOs).

FACTS

(1) The Bill is not about Biosafety. It is to facilitate introduction of GMO's/LMOs in Kenya through the back door. After Kenya is conquered, the rest of Africa will be easy. Why misuse Kenyan Parliamentarians?

(2) GMOs/LMOs are currently in the doubtful control of only 1 species of stockborrer in maize and the American ball worm in cotton. Nothing more. So are those two insects the cause of food crises in Kenya today?. Food insecurity is caused by droughts, floods, food movements, lack of markets, unequal land distribution, storage problems, transport challenges etc. WILL GMOs/LMOs solve these problems?

(3) The Bill is to open doors for high expenditures of tax payers money in importation of seed technology. Already seed given secretly to farmers is a failure. Therefore, Kenyan farmers will forever be enslaved by GMOs seed. Therefore, Who is benefiting from these wasted public resources.

(4) The Bill is aimed at enriching Key Multinationals for the interest of their already rich economies. Kenyan farmers will for ever purchase the seed from them. The seeds have the TERMINATOR TECHNOLOGY in them. As such, they cannot be harvested and be replanted. They will also spend and contaminate farms, forests and Natural biodiversity reserves. And where the gene is found, the owner of the land has to pay royalties to the
Multinationals. Ask USA farmers. So where is the issue of Food Security?

(5) The Bill has backing from the Minister of Agriculture. The CATEGENA PROTOCOL Article I demands that the public must debate thoroughly and agree on the GMOs introduction in the country. Ask your Local Agriculture Officer whether she/he is aware of the implications of the Bill and hence GMOs. If not aware, would farmers be? Why are farmers and consumers not being involved? On environmental issues, ask KEBs and NEMA whether they have capacity to deal with the risks the country is being pushed into. In January 2000, Kenya adopted the Categena Protocol. The conditions therein on Risk and Advanced Informed Agreement (AIA) are clear. Why is the small group of Kenyan Scientists now hiding these facts?

(6) Research has shown that GMOs have potential to bring in different diseases to food consumers and handlers. Among them cancers, allergies, respiratory tract diseases, diarrhoea etc. Since this bill and GMOs are not about food increase, why should Kenyan Scientists and University Lecturers mislead the country/ Whose interest are they serving? See the book titled. Genetic Roulette: The documented Health Risks of Genetically Engineered Foods by Jefrey Smith, www.GeneticRoulette.com.

(7) We support Biotechnology and our food and agriculture businesses are based on science. The TISSUE CULTURED BANANA is being used to convince you that GMOs are about food. The banana is not a GMO/LMO. We are using it. Why is it being used as a marketing tool to enhance the GMO/LMO lie?

Our dear MPs, we ask you to look at the flaws, weaknesses and hidden meaning exposed and placed in the papers in the past 2 years. Specifically the legal analysis on Nation Newspaper Tuesday 25/11/08 page 50 and 51. You will then see the Lies being brought to you.

SAVE US FARMERS AND CONSUMERS.
The ball is in your court as you will be in Parliament where this HORRIBLE LAW is being pushed through to place Kenya's food and agriculture in the manipulation and control of Multinationals FOR EVER.
