2012 KCSE Examination Results Release on March 1st 2013

KNEC ANNOUNCES THE RELEASE OF 2012 KCSE EXAMINATION RESULTS


This is to inform candidates, parents/guardians, stakeholders and the general public that the 2012 KCSE examination results for the 436,349 candidates who sat this examination will be released on Friday 1st March 2013 by KNEC and the Minister for Education Hon. Mutula Kilonzo. 

Examination results for the 42,457 candidates who sat the 2012 November Series Business and Technical examinations will also be released on the same day. 

The exercise will be held at Mitihani House Calendonia off Denis Pritt Road starting at 9.00 a.m. In preparation for this, candidates, principals and parents/guardians are advised as follows:

1.0 After the release, candidates are advised to collect their examination results from the respective examination centres where they registered for the examination.

The examination results can be received by sending the candidate’s index number through a short text message (sms) to 5052 immediately after release.

2.0 Upon receipt of their examination results, the candidates, principals and parents/guardians are advised to thoroughly scrutinize their results for correctness and ensure accuracy of the following:

2.1 candidates’ particulars i.e. names, index number and gender;

2.2 school name and code; and

2.3 individual subject grades.

3.0 Any discrepancy noted should be communicated to KNEC as a query within one month (30 days) of release of the examination results. This includes appeals for remarking.

4.0 Candidates who have their examination results withheld will receive a letter through their head teacher explaining why the examination results have been withheld. Such candidates must submit the required documents through their respective schools and NOT directly to the Council, by Monday 1st April 2013.

5.0 Candidates who were involved in any form of examination irregularity will have their examination results cancelled and they will be advised in writing through their respective head of schools on release of the examination results. Principals are expected to inform candidates, whose results have been cancelled and parents/ guardians are asked to get this information from the principals instead of travelling all the way to the Council. The Council wishes to advice that cancelled results are never re-marked.

6.0 Through this notice, Directors from the Ministry of Education as well as National representatives from the following relevant stakeholders based in Nairobi are also invited:

6.1 Kenya Private Schools Association (KEPSA)

6.2 Kenya Secondary School Heads Association (KESSHA)

6.3 Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET)

6.4 Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT)

6.5 Kenya National Parents and Teachers Association (KENPTA)

6.6 Kenya Union of Special Needs Teachers (KUSNET

6.7 Kenya Association of Technical Teacher Institutes (KATTI).

Release of the 2011 KCSE Examination Results

1.0 RELEASE OF THE 2011 KCSE EXAMINATION RESULTS

1.1 The Kenya National Examinations Council wishes to inform parents/guardians, candidates,
stakeholders and the general public that the 2011 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education
(KCSE) examination results will be released on Wednesday 29th February 2012.

The ceremony will be officiated by Hon. Amb. Prof. Sam K. Ongeri, Minister for Education, at Mitihani House, off Denis Pritt Road, opposite St. Georges Secondary School starting from 9.00 am.

1.2 All Provincial Directors of Education (PDEs) are requested to be present during the ceremony and to pick results for their counties and districts for distribution to schools by respective District Education Officers. Invitation to relevant stakeholders has been sent through separate communication.

1.3 Candidates are advised to collect their results from the respective centres where they registered for the examination. The examination results will be available on the KNEC website: www.knec.ac.ke and can also be received by sending the candidate’s index number through a short text message (sms) to 5052 immediately after the release by the Minister for Education.

Please note that subscribers are advised to send one SMS and wait for the results before sending another one to avoid jamming the system.

1.4 Upon receipt of their results, the parents/guardians and candidates are advised to thoroughly scrutinize them for correctness.

In particular, they must ensure the accuracy of the following:-

1.4.1 candidates’ particulars i.e. names, index number and gender;

1.4.2 school names and codes;

1.4.3 individual subject grades and mean score.

1.5 Any discrepancy MUST be communicated to the Council within one month (30 days) after the release of examination results. This includes appeals for remarking. The Council will not accept any queries on the 2011 KCSE examination results after 31st March 2012.

1.6 All heads of schools have been provided with the following information about the results: W - Pended/Withheld, X-Absentees, Y- Irregularities and Z-Missing groups.

1.7 Candidates who have their results withheld will receive a letter through their head teacher
explaining why the results have been withheld until they submit the required documents e.g.
previous KCPE examination details for their results to be released.

Such candidates must submit the documents through their respective schools and NOT directly to the Council, by 31st March 2012 failure to which it will be deemed that the candidates do not have the required document(s) and their results will subsequently be cancelled.

1.8 Candidates who were involved in any form of examination irregularity have had their results
cancelled and they have been advised so in writing through their respective school principals
before release of the results.

Please note that the Council will post all cases of cancelled results on the KNEC website upon release of the results and the affected candidates are advised to check.

1.9 It has been noted that in the past principals have not informed parents and candidates whose results have been cancelled and this has caused them to travel all the way to the Council for information.

1.10 The Council will issue result slips for the KCSE candidates. All candidates must note that a result slip is not a certificate. The Kenya National Examinations Council reserves the right to correct the information given on result slips which will be confirmed by the issue of certificates.

1.11 The Council does not re-mark cancelled results.

Registration of Candidates for the 2012 KCPE and KCSE Examinations

2.0 REGISTRATION FOR THE 2012 KCPE AND 2012 KCSE CANDIDATES

2.1 The Kenya National Examinations Council wishes to inform all the 2012 KCPE and KCSE
candidates and examination centres that the online registration system is officially running and they are required to access the KNEC website on www.knec-registration.ac.ke/kcpe or www.knecregistration.ac.ke/kcse to download the registration application and register.

This application is only available up to 31st March 2012, the last day of the registration period. Detailed instructions for the online registration process are contained in a user manual which can be downloaded from the same KNEC websites.

2.2 All KCPE and KCSE examination centers have been provided with a USERNAME and
PASSWORD to upload the file. The system requires the school principal or a designee (one
user per school) to send a short message system (SMS) to 6062 using the following format:
exam#school-code to 6062 e.g. KCPE#01101101 or KCSE#101101 to 6062.

2.3 Candidates are solely responsible for the accuracy of the registration data submitted to KNEC.

All examination centres MUST therefore avail the NOMINAL ROLLS for candidates’ confirmation before submitting to KNEC. Candidates are required to append their signature (not the principal or the school administration) for the accuracy of the details and in particular the following areas:

2.3.1 the candidate name and index number (for all);

2.3.2 the candidate school choices (for KCPE);

2.3.3 the candidate school photographs (for KCSE);

2.3.4 the candidate KCPE year and KCPE index number (for KCSE);

2.3.5 KCSE candidates MUST ensure they use the exact name they used in the KCPE
examination.

2.4 All KCSE candidates are required to upload their photographs which must meet the exact
stipulated specifications in the online registration guidelines. In particular the photograph MUST
be taken using a digital camera, and MUST be uploaded in batch then submitted to the Council by 28th February 2012 (the photograph upload portal will be closed after this date).

2.5 Examinations centres are advised to register as early as possible to avoid last minute rush and network congestion as was the case in 2011 registration.

2.6 Parents/guardians are obligated to confirm the registration status of their candidates including the accuracy of the information submitted to KNEC. Confirmation can be done at the KNEC Website: www.knec-registration.ac.ke. parents/guardians will not require username and password to login and they can only log in after the completion of the registration exercise on 31st March 2012.

Release of the 2010 KCSE Examination Results

The Kenya National Examinations Council wishes to inform parents/guardians, candidates and all stakeholders that the 2010 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination results will be released on Monday, 28th February 2011 starting 9.00 am during a ceremony to be presided by the Minister for Education, Amb. Hon. Prof. Sam K. Ongeri.

The release ceremony will be held at the Kenya National Examinations Council offices located at Caledonia, off Denis Pritt Road, Nairobi.

All Provincial Directors of Education (PDEs) are invited to attend the ceremony and thereafter pick the results for the schools in their respective provinces for distribution.

Due to limited space, attendance will be strictly by written invitation.

To receive results in real time, candidates, parents and teachers are asked to pre-subscribe by sending the index number to 5052 to Safaricom ONLY but will not be charged until the results are sent on Monday 28th February 2011.

For Airtel and Orange, subscribers are advised to send their SMS on Monday February 28, 2011.

The results will be sent immediately after the announcement by the Minister for Education.

To receive results in real time, candidates, parents and teachers are asked to pre-subscribe by sending the index number to 5052 to Safaricom ONLY but will not be charged until the results are sent on Monday 28th February 2011.

For Airtel and Orange, subscribers are advised to send their SMS on Monday February 28, 2011.

The results will be sent immediately after the announcement by the Minister for Education.

KCSE Results 2010 Announcement

1.0 The Kenya National Examinations Council wishes to inform parents/guardians,candidates and all stakeholders that the 2009 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination results will be released on Tuesday, March 2, 2009. The ceremony will be presided by Education Minister, Hon. Amb.Prof. Sam K.Ongeri at the Kenya Institute of Education (KIE) starting 9.00 a.m.

2.0 All Provincial Directors of Education (PDEs) are reminded to avail themselves to pick the results for the schools in their respective provinces and districts for distribution. Through this notice, all senior officers from the Ministry of Education and its SAGAs as well as representatives of all relevant stakeholders are also invited.

3.0 Candidates/parents/guardian can pre-subscribe to receive exam results by sending a text message (SMS) KCSE#index–number to 2228 (Safaricom or Zain) as from Thursday 25th February 2010. Exam results will be sent to the subscribers upon release on 2nd March 2010.

The SMS will only be charged upon receipt of the results.Subscribers are advised to send one SMS message only.

4.0 Upon the release of the results, they will be available on KNEC website:www.knec.ac.ke or www.examscouncil.or.ke
